Senator Dianne Feinstein would do well to avoid any contact with constituents. The more she talks, the more she continues embarrasses herself and her party.
As the Los Angeles Times reported, when nearby Stockton became the largest city in the U.S. to fail, filing bankruptcy it resulted in many lifestyle changes for all involved.
The Stockton City Council halted bond payments, slashed employee benefits and adopted an emergency budget as mediation ended. The Central Valley city becomes the largest in the U.S. to seek bankruptcy protection.
Would the aging senators visit to Stockton in an attempt to let them know she will be working to help change their woes once elected to a 5th term in the United States Senate have any effect? Of course not, She spoke at a luncheon at the nearby Modesto Chamber of Congress instead.
According to the Modesto Bee, Senator Dianne Feinstein spoke at the Modesto Chamber of Commerce luncheon yesterday:
“The San Francisco Democrat called the lingering U.S. recession ‘unusual,’ saying, ‘Productivity has gone up but unemployment hasn’t gone down.’
“She also was well-aware of the Modesto Irrigation District proposal to sell water to her hometown of San Francisco.
“‘I have nothing to do with that,’ she told the crowd. ‘I’m not going to make a comment on whether that is good or bad. But we are on our way to running out.’
The only thing ‘unusual’ about Dianne Feinstein’s bland message was the fact that she bothered to show up in Modesto at all. The 79 year-old is working pretty hard to avoid answering any questions about her lack of leadership on the issues affecting Californians; joblessness, massive looming defense cuts, more debt, water, and the housing crisis.
The fact that she made the time for a campaign drive-by but claims she doesn’t have the time to debate Elizabeth Emken proves that the only thing Dianne Feinstein can offer Californians is six more years of a ceremonial senator who is seen around election time and rarely at all in her home state.
You can run but you can’t hide, Dianne, you fooled nobody at the Chamber of Commerce Luncheon, these folks operate in the real world of profit and loss not in the imaginary world of progressive schemes and dreams.
Elizabeth Emken will be taking the majority of the votes from the Central Valley largely because the economic disaster that has destroyed, the citizen’s farms, their jobs, their businesses and the value of their homes are the result of out dated economic theories. These are the theories Dianne adores.
It’s time for a change, Dianne Feinstein has been around “Too Long” and she’s “Too Wrong” for the future of California.
It is time that the voters demand that Senator Feinstein debate Elizabeth Emken. If she fails to do so it will be a clear sign she knows she cannot defend her tax and spend mantra as a member of the U.S. Senate.
Californians want change, they want Elizabeth Emken for their United States Senator from California.
