Dear Friend: (Stop the mail Senator I’m not your friend)
On the Fourth of July, we celebrate not only America’s birthday but also the birth of our nation’s founding ideals as set forth in the Declaration of Independence.
Could you possibly be more disingenuous? “Celebrating the ideas set forth in the Declaration of Independence?” With your stead fast desire to tax Americans while voting 96% of the time with the progressives like yourself that have hijacked the party of the democrats, please be serious.
Your interest lies in making more people dependent upon the government with your utopian vision of an ever-expanding, bloated federal government, with unelected bureaucrats to put forth your agenda. Having trouble with that one Senator? Think the EPA or the Department of the interior that won’t issue permits to drill for oil.
On July 4, 1776, the Second Continental Congress met to approve Thomas Jefferson’s revolutionary statement “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
Yes All men are created equal, but Thomas Jefferson never had in mind life long politicians like you who would use social engineering under the name of so-called “Social Justice,” to achieve that end.
Ever since that first July Fourth, Americans have worked to fulfill the promise of freedom embodied in the Declaration of Independence. First the colonists had to fight a seven-year war of independence; then the principles of equality and freedom were tested and forged in the fire of Civil War. In the 20th century, our ideals were again tested and strengthened by two world wars, the Great Depression, and the successive struggles for equal rights for all Americans.
Indeed American’s did exactly what you mentioned above. Please explain to me how those who fought for our freedom would have done so without weapons? Your anti-Second Amendment zealotry puts law-abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals, and if you had your way with a complete gun ban, the U.S. would no longer be a sovereign nation. Perhaps you might consider throwing ion the towel.
You have been around far to long and your ideas are far to wrong to represent main stream thinking in America.
See a letter written to a constituent where using convoluted logic and revisionist history she claims there is no individual right to keep and bear arms.
In the 21st century, the Declaration of Independence continues to inspire those all around the world who struggle for freedom and democracy, while spurring us here at home to create a more perfect Union by extending the blessings of liberty to all. Oh please! Well she just proved the old saying, “There’s no fool like an old fool.” She may as well excel at something right?
This Fourth of July, as we gather to share our picnics or watch the fireworks, let us once again celebrate the rights and freedoms that define us as a people and a nation.
I didn’t need the reminder but I will do everything in my power to make sure a true patriot, Elizabeth Emken unseats you in 2012. Join Team Emken by clicking this link.
