Our movement to end marriage discrimination in America is gaining momentum by the day. 
That would be your movement Dianne not mine.
The past two weeks have seen two major legal victories for same-sex couples. First, a federal appeals court in Boston ruled the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional. Then on Tuesday, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in California refused to reconsider their decision to strike down the disastrous Proposition 8.
Perhaps I might explain something to you my 79-year-old friend. Once again you have proved you would rather vote against the will of the majority of Californians who voted for proposition 8, then you call it a victory to have a cherry picked liberal court in Boston rule in favor along with one of the most overturned circuit courts in America, the 9th Circuit Court, by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court reversed or vacated 19 of the 26 decisions it looked at from the 9th Circuit this judicial term, issuing especially pointed critiques of the court’s handling of cases involving prisoners’ rights and death row reprieves.
Conservative legal scholars say they are “cautiously optimistic” that the U.S. Supreme Court, will ultimately uphold California’s Proposition 8.
Both of these cases are now on their way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
So far, 5,359 have joined our fight to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), and give same-sex couples marriage equality. Have you signed on yet? (Oh Oh something has happened, the link now leads to the website of Elizabeth Emken who will be sending you home in November.)
This law has enshrined discrimination in our country for far too long. I have opposed DOMA since the very beginning. These rulings add significantly to the momentum we gained when the President declared his support for same-sex marriage last month.
What has the president said that most normal people agree with you want to tie your sinking row-boat to his ship?
And our support continues to grow. Some new polls have shown that a majority of Americans now believe same-sex marriage should be legal ( Wrong again Dianne and you need to quit being less than honest. If American’s care about the 2% of Americans that make up this group they prefer that Marriage remain between a man and a woman, and member of the group you continually pander live in legally bound civil unions.
It has never been more important for us to show a strong, united front in the fight for marriage equality.
This is none other than the result of not listening to your constituents throughout the entire state.
